Euthanasia is a health care issue that has created controversial perspective and captivated attention of millions of people in the United States and other countries. Euthanasia is translated from Greek as, “good death or “easy death.” This term is used in reference to deaths that occurs natural peaceful without pain during old age and in an environment of comfort and familiarity. People understands euthanasia to occur when an individual terminate the life of another human when he or she request to cease his or her pain and suffering as means of death. Millions of Americans opinions convey that doctors should be granted the authority to engage in euthanasia practice has escalated the previous four decades. The number of Americans who participated in the survey believed euthanasia to be morally accepted had doubled, by 1991. Americans strongly support his or her belief when an individual is in excruciating pain without a chance for improvement is morally right to choose euthanasia (Filippo, 1992).

Frequently, euthanasia is separated into different groups. For example, “Voluntary euthanasia” is acknowledged when an individual is killed upon the individual’s request as a means to terminate the pain and suffering that he or she is enduring. “Involuntary or non-voluntary euthanasia” is acknowledged as mercy killing of an incompetent individual who is medically or legally incompetent, such as a child or elderly person experiencing dementia, as requested by the caregiver or a family member.”Passive euthanasia” is a term used by some people as a means to describe a death that occurs following unwelcomed life-saving medical devices withheld or withdrawn (Beauchamp & Childress, 1989). This is incorrect. Euthanasia as the term is currently used consists of intentional killing. Therefore, “passive euthanasia” is not euthanasia because death pounces upon an individual, and he or she do not always die...
