The characteristics model is a method to job redesign that seeks to express jobs in ways that motivate worker and lead to positive outcome. The primary goal is to create jobs that result a positive personal and work outcomes such as internal work motivation; satisfaction with one job’s and work effectiveness. The centre concern of the job characteristics is internal motivation which is comes from the job itself rather than from outside rewards. The other strong concern in Job characteristics model is the five important areas are: skill variety, task identity, task significance, autonomy and feedback, the five cores basically help worker to be more motivated which will lead to good performance and excellent outcome in any workplace.

The skill variety is the step to feel enjoyable in your work, “The number of different activities performed in a job”. The perceived variety and complexity of abilities and talents required to perform the job, the degree to which a job wants a Variety of different activities in carrying out the work, which include the use of a number of different skills and talents in any workplace.

Task identity involves doing an entire piece of work “Is the degree to which job from beginning to end need require to completion” which is also one of the factors in the job characteristics model that influences experienced relevance of work. The goal for the setting has the likely to increase role clarity and reduce the role uncertainty by understanding and making the goals of a job and attractive the worker to understand the relationship between each other role.
