Hello! My name is Jackie McDowell. I am a 1988 graduate of Jena High School in Jena,Louisiana. I attended Louisiana State University at Alexandria, Louisiana from the fall of 1988 to the spring of 1989, again in the fall of 1991, and the spring of 2005. I attended Northwestern State University at Natchitoches, Louisiana for the fall of 1989 and again the spring of 1995 to the spring of 1998. My experience on college campus was fun. I didn't like school but college was different. I met lots of different people and I learned how to dive while attending NSU. That was to me a big accomplishment due to having my back problems. Most challenging for me was college algrebra and facing my peers during speech classes. I did it though. Traveling to and from school was another challenged to but somehow I managed to do it and raise two children.

For twelve years I have worked as a special ed. paraprofessional for the school district where I live. I love helping students achieve their IEP goals and help them with life skills. I also think that I would be a great teacher and I want to teach regular ed. or special ed. I just love helping children. I hope to pursue my master's degree once I have taught in a classroom room for a year or so.

In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my boys and grandson. I love to read the Bible and Stephen King novels. I love to attend church and watch action films. I have lived in Louisiana all my life. I moved from Jena to Woodworth, Louisiana in 1993. I have traveled to eight states and oneday hope to see all of the United States.

I am a single mother. I have worked two jobs for the last five and a half years. I worked in retail for a year and a half and was let go. So, I decided to it was time to go back to college , get my degree, and work one job. I am now currently employed as a part time manager at a local Dairy Queen.
