Table 1: Total cost for all methods

|Method |Total Cost |

|AASHTO method |RM 23,606,696.00 |

|AASHTO software |RM 8,405,721.00. |

|CBR method |RM 17,708,738.00 |

The total cost by using AASHTO method is RM 23,606,696.00 while JKR CBR method is RM 17,708,738.00. Based on values of the total cost from both of the method that we used, we can see that the value of total cost using JKR CBR method is lower than value of total material cost by using AASHTO method. So, JKR CBR method is better than AASHTO method because it can reduce total cost of the material that we used for designing the flexible pavement for the proposed expressway and more cost effective.

In addition, if we chose California Bearing Ratio, there will no burden on cost like over budget except something bad happen that will change all the cost, tremendously. For example, the existence of earthquake and tsunami in Japan previously has brought too many consequences to the country. One of the consequences is, the cost of all materials like asphalt will rise up and causes all construction over budget. The country has to rebuild their infrastructure again to provide comfort to the users.

In the context of Malaysia, California Bearing Ratio is very common. This is because the cost of constructing the pavement far more cheap than the other method. Since the economy rising tremendously nowadays, all material price facing fluctuation, so do highway materials. In addition, as we can see the price of stone mastic asphalt, it gave the higher cost following by crusher-run base, and sand sub base. To overcome this matter, we can solve by decreasing the depth of asphalt layer...
