People often think that love’s easy to understand. They think that the moment they’re feeling butterflies in their tummies and are willing to do the impossible for their loved ones, they’re already in love. However, that’s not the case for me. I believe that love is beyond all feelings, and also beyond all reason. Love is unexplainable and incomprehensible, just like the Lord who gave us this wonderful gift. We can try and try to understand God, but we know that we’ll never be able to comprehend Him. He’s different to each of us. For me, God is my strength. For others, He is their healer. Though God is unchanging, the way we see Him always changes. It’s the same thing with love. It’s been around ever since we were created. We continue to try to understand it, but if one would notice, definitions would vary from person to person. Love is constant, but the way we see love, changes. This is why sometimes arguments arise.

For example, people think differently about jealousy and possessiveness. Most people might say that jealousy and possessiveness is not true love. As taught by the Church and the Bible, in 1st Corinthians 13:4-7, “Love is patient …. Love does not envy…. It (Love) always trusts.” The Church believes that if someone truly loves someone, he or she won’t experience jealousy because love is supposed to make them trust each other entirely. According to the Church, love is commitment. Without commitment, who could call it love, right? True love will be able to withstand all the trials and obstacles. That is why jealousy and possessiveness shouldn’t exist.

Nonetheless, I took the liberty of asking some people about the topic and I received different answers. I asked some of my family members, including my parents, and friends about their experiences in love. My question was simple: “Have you ever felt jealousy or possessiveness for your partner?” and they answered yes. Just because they felt jealousy doesn’t mean that they’re not in love. My mom...
