I have a problem with staying awake at work, or during classes. In the Marine Corps this could
cause many problems, not only harming myself but also others. It could cost me my career, my life, or
worse someone else theirs. This is something I do not want to ever live with.
Sleeping at work doesn't just slow down my work speed but also my proficiency as well as the
trust that my higher ups have for me. It may sometimes be seen as a joke but can quickly turn into a
serious matter. I could get more counseling’s, page 11s, or even an NJP. Worst of all I could cost a
Marine his pay check, or his identity stolen If I'm not paying attention and I'm asleep. It also puts more
Stress on me to meet deadlines that I could easily reach if I wasn't asleep and also the corporals yelling
at me to get them done.
For my career not only could I get NJP, or worse separated for it. But I'm trying to go for MSG
in January. I cannot fall asleep there, I might even get court marshaled for it if something serious was
to happen at the Embassy while I was asleep. Also if I get to many counseling’s or page 11s from now
till January then I may not be able to go do MSG or anything that would be better and help my career
in the Marines. This is something I do not want, MSG is one of my goals as a Marine, and is what I
want to do very badly. It is also no secret that I do not like IPAC or being Admin. Which if I cannot
my sleeping problem then I would not only be able to do MSG but let's say go on a deployment or LAT
Move into another MOS. This could stop any chance I have of going out and experiencing all the
Marine corps has to offer.
Let's say I was on a deployment in Afghanistan and fell asleep on post. A insurgent could come
and kill me. Or worse sneak into the FOB or camp and blow it all to hell. Or I'm on MSG duty in a
not so friendly country and some terrorist comes through the gate I'm suppose to be guarding...
