The Break Up

Ending his relationship with Lora is one of the hardest things Jay has ever had to do, especially since it will most likely break Lora’s heart. Even though Jay has his reasons to break up with Lora, it is still very hard because he obviously doesn’t want to break her hearts. Being away from each other over the summer is a very hard thing to do, this is why Jay must think about why he might really want to break up with her. If he is simply upset with her because they couldn’t find the time in their schedules to see each other over the summer, he should consider talking about what is currently upsetting about their relationship and focus on resolving it, rather than ending the relationship. But if the underlying issue is something more or this same issue has already been discussed, and nothing has changed and they both keep feeling unsatisfied, hurt, or betrayed, then breaking up might be the only way to end this pattern. If in fact Jay decides to break up with Lora, she should ask Jay why he wants out, and he should be prepared with answers to her questions. Before he should engage in having "the talk" that ends their relationship, he should do his best to articulate the reasons they are breaking up. If he has trouble remembering examples during emotional discussions or arguments in the relationship, she should write his reasons down in advance so that he can be prepared and not leave Lora in confusion. It also may help him to talk this over with someone you trust, like his own parent who have always been there to help him throughout the relationship.
