Introduction
This paper will look at the alternative dispute resolution that I have chosen to implement for my team which will be the basis for how conflict is resolved within my team as well as included in the team charter.
Alternative Dispute Resolution
In preparing a team alternative dispute resolution for the team charter I would be on. I studied many types of alternative dispute resolutions and the two that I believe that truly apply to the teams I have had the opportunity to be a part of both in my employment experiences and here at University of Phoenix are negotiation and consensus. The first alternative dispute resolution is, negotiation which begins with discussion that is with two or more people trying to solve a disagreement, or making a decision as to what direction to go or do, as well the possibly of making a bargain to resolve the dispute.
The second alternative dispute resolution is building consensus which is part of the negotiation process which tries to develop an outcome to which all participants can agree. In trying to build a consensus, parties seek to resolve or alleviate any objections of those in the minority to hopes to achieve an agreeable outcome.
In looking at these two alterative dispute resolutions, I have found that both in my employment as well as participating in team assignments here at University of Phoenix that well a dispute may start with a negotiation resolution but always ends up with everyone on that team trying to build a consensus is where a resolution to any dispute is resolved. The benefits to building a consensus, which are that building consensus activities generally result in a more shared commitment to meet both a new set of goals and objectives in obtaining whatever outcome has been decided during the consensus.
