1/What are Wynn Resorts’ distinctive resources and competencies?

Wynn Resorts, Ltd. is an international company that opens casino resorts in two cities: Las Vegas and Macau. In order to create and sustain competitive advantage, Wynn Resorts must own distinctive resources and competencies.

One of most important distinctive resource of Wynn Resorts is the founder himself: Steve Wynn. When Steve was just a newcomer in casino industry, he always had a dream of expanding his own casino empire. With more than thirty - year experience, Steve has contacts, alliances and knowledge about casino industry and becomes a leader that no one hardly replace. Moreover, Steve also builds up a management team with significant experiences in casino service.

The second important distinctive resource is Wynn Resorts’ license to operate casino in Macau. After the breaking of the casino monopoly in Macau, Wynn Resorts is one of the three companies that have the legal approval from Macau Government to open casino here and it brought a chance for Wynn Resorts to expand and develop.

The third distinctive resource of Wynn Resorts is their brand name. Wynn Resorts offer their elite customers luxurious casino and non- casino service such as hotels, restaurants, night clubs, pool and spa. When high end customers seek for luxury and privacy, they will think about Wynn Resorts.

Wynn Resorts’ distinctive competency is their concentration on creating atmosphere and providing luxurious service for high-end customers. For example, Encore at Wynn Las Vegas is an all-suite hotel with casino, restaurants, nightclub, pool and spa. Besides, casino floor is designed specially with private VIP areas; it also has light and sound that make customers feel excited to gamble.
