Information System

For this assignment I have select the organization I work for. My company is an independent designer and manufacturer of highly engineered electrical and electronic components, modules and systems principally for the commercial vehicle, automotive, agricultural and off-highway vehicle markets. Our products help our customers produce better quality vehicles, featuring more reliable and sophisticated electrical and electronic systems. The mission for my organization is Total commitment for Customer satisfaction. To enable our business to achieve set goals we have implemented Oracle JD Edwards as our Enterprise Resource planning system. This ERP system helps us in many business modules such as Manufacturing, Financials, Distribution, Human Resources etc.

Our business management team is the owner of our ERP system. Each module is owned by that respective department. For instance Finance management team is responsible for the Finance modules such as General Ledger, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable. Each business management team has an application champion who defines the requirements of a business process. The IT department provides supports the ERP system day to day functions. The Functional and Technical help business management to maximize the potential of the ERP system.

As owner of the system I want system processes to be aligned to my business processes. These system processes should help me efficient that they make my business processes more effective. These should help me save production time and increase my productivity. I also believe these system processes should be easy to understand and follow enabling system friendly environment.

For this ERP system the users are employees of the organization. Each employee belongs to a particular department. For instance the Accounts Payable clerk belonging to Finance team is responsible for accounts payable activity on the ERP system.
