Dedication

“The Pursuit of Happyness” is a movie about a man named Chris Gardner and his struggle to make it in America. He sunk his whole life savings into selling bone density scanners to doctors offices. What he didn't know is that most doctors considered it a luxury and not a necessity. He was pretty much living hand to mouth after his wife left him and getting evicted from his apartment for failure to pay the rent. While broke and homeless, he accepts an unpaid internship as a stock broker with no solid guarantee of a job when he was finished. This internship took only 1 person out of 20 and it wasn't a pass\fail test that was needed. This would involve complete dedication in order to study and understand the requirements of a stock broker. Despite all the obstacles that were thrown in his way he managed to make it to the end and was offered the job.

I feel the director wanted to portray with this film is that no matter what the odds anything is possible. This movie taught me that anything that I want i can achieve no matter how hard it is or no matter what gets in my way.

This film has a lot of psychological references, Chris was extremely determined to get this job and no matter what got in his way he was not going to quit. Chris was also a very intelligent person. He was able to solve a Rubik's cube in a matter of minutes, which is no easy task, and impressed one of the people that had a say in who received the job.

Chris was forced do everything he needed at the internship to succeed with less time than his colleagues. This included short cuts like not hanging up the phone between calls and not taking bathroom breaks. This was necessary because he had to pick up his son and get to the homeless shelter before there were no more rooms available and he would be forced to sleep with his son on a train or in a public bathroom.
