Nutrition is not just about eating nutritious food or a balance diet; it also entails taking care of the body according to God’s will or His teachings. The body serves as the temple of God and therefore individuals must be concern about what goes into their body. The passages of Scripture apply to the topic of nutrition include keeping the body fit physically, emotionally and spiritually. Physically, the body could be maintained healthy and fit by exercising and eating the appropriate foods with the right nutrition and at the right proportion as well as refraining from activities such as prostitution, and adultery, which defiles the body. Spiritually the body has to be in relation with God and connect to a greater energy source, with God as well as availing our body as vessels of worship to God. Just as implied in Romans 12:1-2, the human body should be presented as a living sacrifice to God and, therefore, must be acceptable to God. It also caution man not to conform to the world but renew our mind and do what is good, acceptable to God and perfect to the will of God. This could be through our worship and obeying His commandment, thus not conforming to the world. Romans 12:1-2 could be related to Revelation 18, in that, it tells man not to love the things (the lust of the flesh and the eyes) of the world because these things will pass away but if man trust in the Lord and do His will, he will abide or live forever. So by doing the will of God, one is in a way offering himself (body) to God. In relation to nutrition, if man avoids unhealthy diets and make healthy choices he will prevent illness and diseases and help him live longer. Proverbs 23:19-21 caution man not drinks excessive alcohol or improperly uses alcohol and avoids bad company. Excessive alcohol as destroys the body.
