LAN/WAN integration project

CIS 313 – WINTER 2009 – SUBMITTED BY RAYMOND DAWSON

P ROJECT SCENARIO ( BUSINESS SPECIFICATIONS ) :

As defined within the specifications document, the project plan involved the conceptual design of an integrated

LAN/WAN network that enabled secure transmission of data and information between four key business

locations/sites. The scope of the project included the following deliverables:

1. Development of a final LAN/WAN network diagram model that illustrates how transmission flows

between business locations.

Required LAN w/Bldg A in Skokie, have existing wired LAN only.

Expanding to 3 additional buildings. Each building’s internal network will be using an Ethernet wired or

wireless LANs: one facility in Chicago (Bldg B), the other facility in Lake Forrest (Bldg C) and the other

facility in Lombard (Bldg D).

Approximate Users in Bldg A = 39 users + 4 networked printers.

Approximate Users in Bldg B = 23 users + 3 networked printers.

Approximate Users in Bldg C = 9 users + 2 networked printers.

Approximate Users in Bldg D = 15 users + 3 networked printers with the potential to expand 15

additional users + 2 additional networked printers.

Bldg A DOES NOT have any Routers and will require WAN access to other new buildings. The other
