Abstract

This paper outlines the proposal of a new product to be designed for mechanical CPR. Triangle Solutions has been a leader in automated external defibrillators for years. A new device that incorporates mechanical CPR and our automated external defibrillator needs to be developed. The market for these type of devices will continue to grow and we need to enter the market soon before our competition captures most of the market share.

Triangle Solutions has been a leader in the automated external defibrillator market for years. It is time that we expand by making another device that our current customer base will embrace. Our competitors have developed automated CPR machines that deliver high quality CPR to heart attack victims. These competitor's machines have been on the market for several years. We have not tapped into this market and it is high time we developed a superior product to capture market share from our competitors. We need to look at each one of our competitor's product, then make a superior product that meets our customers' needs. According to the American Heart Association there are 383,000 out of hospital sudden cardiac arrests each year in the US (AHA SCA). This vast untapped market is ready for a new device.

Competition in the mechanical CPR market

Triangle Solutions main competitors are Zoll Medical and Medtronic Physio-Control in the automated external defibrillator markets. In the automated CPR market, Zoll Medical, Medtronic Physio-Control and Michigan Instruments will be our competitors. These companies each use a totally different approach to mechanical CPR.

The Zoll Medical product is called the Autopulse. It uses a strap connected to a three foot board to squeeze the whole patient's chest. It is battery operated and only does chest compressions. The device does not ventilate or defibrillate the patient. The maximum patient weight is...
