Woman and the Bible

Chapter 6

1)How do you interpret Jesus’ enigmatic gesture of writing on the ground ?

Even though some interpreters say that Jesus was writing on the ground as an act of civil courage and some said that he was sitting and writing in the ground so he can think about his response, for me i think his mysterious gesture of writing on the ground is a way of lowering himself to show that we all have made sin that we are not proud of and we are not in a position to judge someone else or think that we are better than that person but instead step back lower ourselves and forgive them for what they have done.

2) Have you ever had an experience in which a gesture may have spoken louder than words?

Yes I have, few years ago when I got in trouble in school, my parents were both angry with me but my dad yelled and screamed at me and he grounded me but my mom didn’t say a word instead she acted like I didn’t exist she would walk by and act like I was investable and I have never felt bad in my life, I believe that her actions and gesture has spoken everything she wanted to say. And I understood how she felt and why she is doing that instead of my father. So I believe that message does not occur through words alone and they are defiantly be louder than words

3)What do you make of the fact that only the woman caught “in the very act of committing adultery “is brought before Jesus?

This part was actually typical because woman back in those days were seen lower than men and it’s not really a big issue or it was acceptable for a guy to have several wives or committees adultery which I think is why the guy was not brought up in this story or was not being accused of the adultery. I also believe that if two of them committee the same sin then they should both get blamed for it not just the woman.

4) Do you think Jesus actually forgives the woman accused of adultery? Why or why not?

even though Jesus doesn’t...
