Global E-commerce business.

We can define ecommerce as the buying and selling of products and services by businesses and consumers over the Internet. The text defines Ecommerce as “the use of digital technology and the internet to execute the major business processes in the enterprise”. It is an encrypted payment through online transactions. Majority of the times these transactions are real time transferee of funds from buyer to seller’s accounts, or can be manually completed through terminal, once source order is received by the merchant.

Difference between e-commerce and E-business: according to http://www.computerworld.com::“- e-commerce refers to online transactions - buying and selling of goods and/or services over the Internet. 

- e-business covers online transactions, but also extends to all Internet based interactions with business partners, suppliers and customers such as: selling direct to consumers, manufacturers and suppliers; monitoring and exchanging information; auctioning surplus inventory; and collaborative product design. These online interactions are aimed at improving or transforming business processes and efficiency”.

Online sales and transactions are increasing quickly as consumers take advantage of cheaper prices offered by wholesalers selling their products. This trend is set to strengthen as web sites address consumer security and privacy concerns.

Some of the ecommerce benefits are:

- Reduced costs by minimizing labor, minimizing paper work, and reducing post costs.

- Less time. Shorter lead times for payment and return on investment in advertising, and faster delivery of product

- Flexibility with efficiency. The ability to handle complex situations, product ranges and customer profiles without the situation becoming unmanageable.

- Improve relationships with trading partners. Improved communication between trading partners leads to enhanced long-term relationships....
