Daniel V. Dela Cruz Reflection Paper: Perry’s Pitch and Zappos’ Silent founder

In the article entitled “Perry’s Pitch”, Meredith Perry did something out of the blue which was not really related to any of her interests. Meredith cold-emailed Marissa Mayer, the Vice President of the multi-national company Google, about a very random and simple idea that will greatly improve the lives of the people. Meredith did not expect Marissa would reply to her about the idea she was proposing. The idea in the email was uBeam, it is a device that would let the users charge their phones wirelessly. It is something new and Marissa immediately invested on it. The uBeam is a very helpful device especially for people who are always on the run and does not have any outlet to charge their phones. With the use of uBeam, you can connect to the wifi and do your things will your phone is being charged. No more battery problems when this idea comes into existence.

Marissa did something that every aspiring entrepreneur should do, she created an idea that is very simple and addresses that needs of the people. The idea should be very useful to the user, nowadays people just create products that are useless and they are just focusing on the fancies of the product. With the right idea and proper explanation, you will be able to attract investors easily and even customers too.

The second article was about Zappos, a multimillion company that is engaging in selling shoes online. The founder of Zappos was Nick Swinmurn, an entrepreneur who never gave up even though he already failed a lot of times. Unlike the previous article, Nick had a lot of ideas in him that he invested on. He created many businesses that he thought would be successful. The businesses were not really that good but not bad, the online shops that he created were just in the break even margin.
