The ethical issue related to Poundland's sweatshops can arguably be illustrated good ethics, however, this essay will explore how it can also be deemed as unethical.

With regards to ethics in Poundland there are clear examples which are not acceptable. For instance, a boy in India gets paid 7p her hour in which he works 100 hours per week. He sleeps and works in the sweatshop and his wages are sent to his mother. This is social issue as this will cause bad publicity for Poundland. No one wants to purchase products from a shop who treat staff like slaves and are abusing cheap labour for their own personal benefit to increase profits. Customers are a lot more likely to shop elsewhere even if it meant paying a slightly higher price for goods as they do not want people to be treated poorly in order for them to receive cheaper goods. Poundland may be at a benefit with children working as slave labour, however this is extremely unethical and bad practice. Customers pay very little for products however it comes in to questions is this ethical or not? Having numerous examples of cheap labour exploits, it is clear that is unethical. Customers therefore have the decision to pay less but at cost – it is an unethical choice and they risk having the guilty conscience. Ethics relate to personal issues.
