APGS Critical Review Essay

Part 1

P1- The U.S. under Bush’s administration has almost Ignored the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and focused mostly on the Iraq and the global war on terrorism.

P2- The U.S. is generally regarded as being responsible for Israeli policy and as being the only power, which has the capacity to influence that policy.

P3- Actions of the U.S sparked a negative impact and aided recruiting efforts for terrorist organisation.

P4- Republican Senator Chuck Hagel delivered an even more robust version of the baker-Hamilton group’s speech, “the core of instability and conflict is the underlying Arab-Israeli problem.”

C- The author concluded that “until the United States helps lead a renewed Israeli-Palestinian peace process, there will be no prospect for border Middle East Peace and stability.

The U.S. not showing enough concern in regards to the Israelis – Palestine conflict as at that point of time, U.S. was tackling the global war on Terrorism and Iraq, thus neglecting the underlying issue of Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Because of the negligence set by the U.S, it caused more resentment from the Middle East. This also made recruiting efforts easier for the terrorist organizations by making U.S as their common enemy. This will also aid in terrorist activity, making it difficult for the U.S. The U.S. will not be able to achieve its goal in the Middle East if there is no step up to solve the Arab-Israeli conflict.

Part 2

Why the Israeli-Palestine conflict is ignored is to due to Bush’s administration negligence. Firstly, the author is showing bias against the administration lead by Bush in comparison to the U.S National Security Strategy Department’s direction, which is to build a framework that allows peace between Israel and the Palestine territories. Bush administration on the other hand acted in a sense that the root of the problem is due to the Iraq and the war on Global Terrorism (GWOT), not the Israeli-Palestine conflict. Self...
