Demonstrative communication

Demonstrative communication consists of nonverbal and unwritten communication. This type of communication is important, because it involves understanding from the receiver without them speaking a word. Even when a receiver may say he or she understands that body language usually speaks louder than words. This type of communication is also expressed in body gestures and at times can form means of communication in a certain tone of voice.

Nonverbal and unwritten communication is essential when dealing with certain business interactions. Non verbal communication can be defined as “all types of communication that don’t involve the exchange of words” (Rogers & Steinfatt, 1999, p. 67). For instance, in a meeting people can usually tell how important a matter is on how the leader is responding to them and even in how their posture and facial expressions are going. Like words, nonverbal communication can also influence the believability your messages (Burgoon, M.L. Knapp, & Miller, 1994, pp. 229-285).

Facial expression is a critical in any situations. This is a way of really understanding how a person feels about what you are saying. It is especially important to pay close attention to this when dealing with such people as a manager or superior, because this is a way of seeing how you should communicate with them. You can also see disinterest or interest in a person when you are relaying a message. You can not always depend on a person’s facial expression to determine if they have an understanding. If the person is distracted or worried about something else they won’t be as interested in communicating.

When communicating verbally tone of voice may also be considered. The tone of voice is just as important as facial expressions.
