Information System Business Problem Dimensions

The Three dimensions to business problems are people, organization and technology. There are many dimensions and problems associated with people. They include poor recruitment, not training employees, evaluating poor performances, and poor management, and the employees lacking motivation to do their job.

The problem with organization is poor business practices. It is brought in from the current system or from the past influences that wasn’t dealt with. Other issues is office politics, and changes in the organization.

Technology problems cover a multitude of problems. The problems that come are software that is outdated, a database with not capacity, telecommunications that is not adequate, and the problems of merging old and new software.

It is very important to recognize there are problems that need to be addressed quickly and also be recognized. If are problems that are serious you need to use critical thinking and find solutions for the problems. Also problems can overlap into each other. This can be office politics and infighting. This could be attributed to poor management skills, or a lack of employee support. If there is a lack of motivation from the top there is no use using criticizing the employees. Information technology is a branch off information systems. This deals with hardware, servers, operating systems and software. Information systems combine people, machines, processes and technology.

Information systems bridge the gap between business and the field of computers. Information technology manages technology to makes businesses run better.

There are 3 basic functions of the IT department. They are

1. Governance – provides parameters for individuals and operating units use of the IT systems, networks. This also includes IT security and data assurance.
