ELECTION CODE OF THE STUDENT ASSOCIATION OF ADVENTIST INIVERSITY OF THE PHILIPPINES

(As of February 2009)

Article 1

Members of the commission election

Section 1:

Three representatives from each division shall comprise the commission on election (article V- section 1.2 –S.A. constitution). A chairman, a vice chairman and a secretary shall be elected by the members of the committee. The commission on election may elect additional commissioners if necessary.

Section 2:

Utmost respect shall be given to all COMELEC commissioners and shall be addressed as “Honorable” preceding their surname.

Section 3:

A quorum shall comprise 50% of its commissioners.

Section 4:

The commission on election shall have the following powers and functions. (Article-V section 3- S.A Constitution).

(1) Formulate guidelines; enforce and administer all the rules and regulations relative to the conduct of the election;

(2) Accept application forms after such candidate passes all the requirements needed in the application form.

(3) Certify political parties and independent candidates to commence their campaign after such screening and interview.

(4) Register political parties and independent with their presented written platform.

(5) Recommend to the general assembly effective measures for all the spending of the commission on election during the preparation and until the Election Day.

(6) Submit to the general assembly a comprehensive report on the conduct of election.

Section 5:

Commission on election headquarters

a) The student association office as well as the conference room of the S.A building is the exclusive headquarter of the COMELEC form the preparation, during election and until the end of the election.

b) All keys of the student association shall be collected by the chair of the COMELEC during the Election Day.
