Over the last one hundred years or so there have been extraordinary changes in the world with regard to technology. The changes have been felt worldwide and in all aspects of life as well as in all industries. Technology has changed lives in ways that are too numerous to count. It has made jobs easier and people are more productive at work.

Small businesses rely on technology to help with the daily operation. Technology has the potential to affect small business in both positive and negative ways, depending on the goals that have been set by the business, the products chosen, and how well entrepreneurs and employees adapt to new systems and changes ().

Small businesses work closely with clients to provide products and services designed to fit into different lifestyles. Going from an idea to a finished product or service requires small business owners and employees to work with together with a external vendors via E-mail and instant messenger tools for instant results instead of the traditional snail mail which could delay the transaction or possibly result in a lost sale. The ability to instantly connect, share information and get feedback, make e-mail and instant messenger beneficial technological advantages for small businesses (“sba.gov”)

Technology gives small business owners and employees the option to work in the office, from home, on the road and even from across the country. This gives small business owners the opportunity to hire talent from around the world, technology can help businesses gain a competitive edge in the global environment.

Small business owners no longer have to mail surveys to customers and wait for weeks for replies, technology gives small businesses the ability to connect with customers via e-mail, through blogs, social networks and forums. Small...
