Prerequisite(s) Course Description

Comm 101 & Comm 306 An integrative course which focuses on the functions and responsibilities of managers/senior management. Deals with the concept of organizational strategy and how it is formulated, developed and implemented in real-life situations.

Course Objectives

Comm 401 is the capstone course of the BComm program. Building on Comm 101 and Comm 306, Comm 401 will help students to develop an advanced understanding of organizational strategy both in theory and application. Learning Objectives: After successfully completing this course you will:           understand multiple perspectives of strategy; be able to identify what those perspectives are and discuss them in isolation; be able to compare and contrast the perspectives; be able to evaluate an organization’s strategy using multiple perspectives; be able to create an organizational strategy using insights from multiple perspectives as appropriate for the organization’s particular situation; understand positioning options based upon analysis; develop an understanding of strategic architecture to support implementation; learn different approaches to strategy implementation such as the impact of culture on implementation; understand the financial implications of strategic choices; develop an understanding of metrics to evaluate strategy.
