Retrofitting of Horizontal Boring Machine

Introduction

At the onset of our final year, it was conveyed to us that we have to submit a project. The project could be study, theoretical or working prototype. This led us to explore the various avenues present before us. After much introspection & forming groups, we decided to go for implant training as it would give us hands-on experience to the industrial approach. Also, it would help us to know a lot of the mechanical processes undertaken by a company. Consequently, we applied for implant training at V-Excel Spares & Equipments Pvt. Ltd., Wagle Estate, Thane. Our application was approved & we were given the opportunity to study the Retrofitting of Horizontal Boring machine. The project consisted basically, maintenance of the boring machine & fitting it with new controls.

Company Introduction

V-Excel Spares and Equipments Pvt. Ltd. is a machining unit located at Wagale estate, Thane. In total they have four units. The remaining three are Creative industries. Out of three, one is fabrication unit and other two are machining unit. They have many machines, conventional as well as CNC. Following are the list of machines,

* Horizontal Boring Machine (2 NOs.)

* CNC Horizontal Boring Machine

* Vertical Turret Lathe

* Big Lathe

* Conventional Belt driven Lathe Machines (2 Nos.)

* Milling Machine

* CNC Lathe machine

* Drilling Machine

Thus in total V-Excel has 11 machines.

This Company manufactures according to the drawings given to us by parties. Mostly they manufacture mechanical spares and equipments such as Chocks, Tailgates, Screw Jacks, Motor Housing, Disappearing Stop, Fixed End Stop, Rack, Antenna Housing, Planetary Gear Housing, Air Knife Beam, Pinch Roll Spindle Carrier etc. Most of our clients are Siemens, Godrej, SMS seimag, SMS meer, Mukund Steels, Larsen & Turbo, Dabir, Indian Steel Corporation etc.
