Kudler Fine Foods founded by Kathy Kudler. Kathy was out on a shopping trip for some ingredients she needed to cook a gourmet meal. Acquiring trouble finding what she needed she came up with the idea to open her own upscale epicurean food shop. Kathy financed the money to open the store in La Jolla, California on June 18 1998. It was around nine months before the store could break even and began making a profit. In 2003, Kathy could open another store in Del Mar and then a third in Encinitas. Kudler, Fine Foods providing quality domestic and imported foods to the San Diego area since 1998 and is one of the best stores in the business. They have a fine selection of fresh baked goods, which contain no preservatives, baked fresh daily in a European bakery. The store has a fresh produce department that boasts over 350 different fruits and vegetables. a section which There is also provides fresh herbs and spices. The meat department contains certified organic meats and fresh seafood. The dairy department is rich with cheeses and specialty items brought in from21 different countries around the world. Kudler Fine Foods also offers an extensive collection of domestic and imported wines that have a price range for anyone to afford. Kathy had to do some marketing research to get the company to where it is today. This paper will explain importance of marketing research and how it was used in the success of Kudler Fine Foods.

Additional Marketing Research Needed

Identifying an area where additional marketing research is needed begins with knowing who

the company is and knowing what their customer’s wants and needs are. New products and

services that customers ask for will bring profits to the organization. The survey option on the
