Answer the following questions (use MS Project help if necessary):
1) Define effort-driven?
Effort driven extends or shortens the duration of a task to accommodate changes to resources.
2) Under what circumstances would you turn off effort driven scheduling?
Turning off the effort driven scheduling would increase or decrease the total task of work created for that resource you assigning to it. If you had only one individual that needed to complete the task then you would turn off the effort driven button.
3) Use a real-world example of when you would make a task as a Fixed Duration type task?
Driving from Orange County to San Diego to deliver supplies would be an example of a fixed duration task.
4) What is the formula for calculating duration?
duration= work/units
5) What are the eight preset work contours (hint: In the Task Usage view right click on a resource name an open the assignment information box) and what are the procedures in applying them to a resource on a task?
Flat-this is the default contour set in MS Project
Backloaded- The set peak is to happen at the end of the project
Front loaded- The set peak is to happen at the beginning of the project
Double peak- There are two major peaks within the project
Early peak- This sets the countour with a ramp early on within the project
Late peak- This sets the contour toward the end of the project with a ramp
Bell-This sets a single peak within the project
Turtle-
6) In the Week 1 iLab you developed a network. For that network identify the tasks that are a part of the critical path. Why is it important for the Project Manager to know what tasks are on the critical path? What does the critical path represent? Are there any activities that are not on the critical path? What is significant about slack?
