* What is your definition of the least restrictive environment?

* Mrs. E the special educator coordinator at Cook Primary definition of least restrictive

* environment is that a students with a disability have the opportunity to be educate with their

* peers in a regular classroom setting. Students will receive services from the special education

* department while attending classes in a regular classroom. Students will have the opportunity

* to learn with their peers. According to the Georgia Department of Education IDEA assure

* individuals with disabilities a full continuum of services. The IEP team has the responsibility to

* decide what the least restrictive environment is for each student and the IEP team also decides

* the supports and accommodations for individual to participate in the least restrictive

* environment (Georgia Department of Education).

* What responsibility do parents play in determining the least restrictive environment for their

* child?

* Parents are important stakeholders in their child’s education. Parents input is important in

* the decision making process. Student’s individual education plan is part of receiving services. The educational teams which parents is a part of also play a role in determining the goals of their child. Parents can reject or they can request parts of the IEP to be changed.
