SCI201 Ecology and Environmental Sustainability

There are many great things that came out of the industrial revolution era which helped us greatly. There are too consequences that were not looked at as a result of some of these which has in turn hurt our environment. I will be taking a look at how it has affected us in these terms of our overall atmosphere. I will be discussing the impact that factories have had on our environment, power plants, and the automobile industry. Along with this I will be taking a look at the environmental movement on the process of industrialization during the 1970’s. Lastly I will disclose any new laws passed since the 1970’s and their impact.

Today there are factories being built everywhere. People are constantly wanting more these days, and with that there is a price to pay. From cutting down trees and forests to building factories that help further deplete our earth’s source of oxygen. Factories emit harmful chemicals and carbon monoxide into our atmosphere, which leads us to more global warming. The waste they produce ends up in the soil and aquifer and eventually in our rivers and lakes. This for sure does not help keep habitat around or what is left turns up dead or mutated due to our own selfish acts and not enough laws to put a stop to it. Obama is the first president I believe to make a preventive measure in ensuring our global resources and protecting our environment.

Power plants are one of the major contributors to our decline in our environment as far as major factories. They emit harmful chemicals and if for some reason something goes wrong drastic devastation can occur by releasing large amounts of radioactive chemicals into the air. Not only the harmful emissions the plants produce to our environment but also the affect it can have on wildlife. A nuclear power plant requires a significantly large area close to a...
