Kaiser Permanente Annual Report

Kaiser Permanente has seen tremendous improvement and it is reflected in their annual report for 2011. The remarkable accomplishments are a direct result of their integrated health care system, employee engagement, and performance improvement. Performance excellence can be seen in the recognition of eighteen Kaiser Permanente hospitals named “2011 Best Hospitals” (Kaiser Permanente Multimedia Communications, 2012). Human resource management plays a strategic role in transforming workplace relationships while striving to achieve the goals and objectives of the organization. Kaiser takes pride in their diverse workforce and the key to their strategy revolves around unit-based teams in the labor management partnership (Grimm & August, 2011). In order to achieve results, Kaiser Permanente focuses on three practices: 1) empower the workforce, 2) identification and support, and 3) disseminate effective practices throughout the organization for implementation in daily operations (Grimm & August, 2011).

Organizational Performance

Over the past year, Kaiser Permanente has continued to promote progressive care through transformation and performance improvement. The improvement in financial profits reflected in their annual statements comes from years of dedication and commitment on behalf of the organization. The decision to transform healthcare began back in 2004 and continues today through performance improvement initiatives, performance excellence, employee engagement and the delivery of high-quality, affordable health care services. In 2003, Kaiser Permanente experienced significant growth (Mehta, 2010).
