VIDEOTAPED JOB INTERVIEW REFLECTION PAPER
A reflection is a recognition and appreciation related to an individual’s experience and belief which is discovered to generate meaning and purpose of that experience (Crisp & Taylor, 2009). This reflection paper explains about the experience gained while filming a video for a job interview for the position of a new graduate Registered Nurse in a hospital. The participants included three interview panels and an interviewee. The three interview panels included a Nursing Unit Manager, an Equal Employment Opportunity officer from Occupational Health and Safety Department and a Registered Nurse.
I was one of the members of the interview panel and was playing a role of an Equal Employment Opportunity officer from the department of Occupational Health and Safety. At first when the idea of a videotaped job interview was introduced to the class, it was thought to be strange. But as the classes progressed and the interaction within the group members increased, it was thought to be a good concept through which students could gain confidence for an actual scenario. The group members were very supportive and everything was done systematically. While the video was being shot, some level of nervousness was present however the overall outcome was productive. It was a very different experience being an interviewer. I was trying to be as professional as I could without making the interviewee nervous.
In my point of view the interview panel utilised a professional approach in the interview. The interview panel were dressed appropriately in a professional manner and they were organised and well prepared. The interviewee also looked professional and was quite confident although some nervousness was
