History:

British Airways can trace back its origin back to the birth of civil aviation. On 25 August 1919, British Airways’ forerunner company, Aircraft Transport and travel limited (AT&T), launched the first daily international scheduled air service between London & Paris. That initial proving flight operated by a single-engine de Havilland DH4A biplane taking off from Hunslow Heath, carried a single passenger and cargo that included newspapers, Devonshire cream and grouse.

Background:

The British Airways board was established in 1971, to control the two nationalized airlines corporations, BOAC (British Oversees Airways Corporation) and BEA (British European Airways), and two smallest, regional airlines, Cambrian Airways from Cardiff and Northeast Airlines from Newcastle upon Tyne. On 31 March 1974 all four companies were merged to form British Airways. In 2011 British Airways and Iberia airlines merge to create a new leading airlines group called IAG (International Airlines Group).

Branding:

British Airways is a flag carrier airline of United Kingdom. Its main headquarter is in Waterside, Harmondsworth beside its main hub at London Heathrow. British Airways is the UK’s largest airline regarding fleet size, International flights and destinations as well as largest in the list regarding passenger’s carrier.IAG (International Airlines Group) become the Europe’s third largest scheduled air line. British Airways is also a world’s leading cargo airline delivering mails and cargo in more than 200 destinations in 80 countries.

British Airways received two awards for sponsoring the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics games. British Airways is currently sponsoring British Academy of Film and Television Art. British Airways is try to build a strong relation ship with the community so they are investing their resources on many sectors like education, public health etc.
