Zales was founded in 1924 in Wichita Falls, Texas, where Morris Zale, William Zale, and Ben Lipshy took their vision of providing jewelry at an affordable cost and opening the first ever Zales. Their idea was to offer a higher priced product to everyone through a ground-breaking credit plan of "a penny down and a dollar a week." This plan proved to be a success and led to the opening of more stores in the United States, reaching 12 stores in Oklahoma and Texas by 1941.

Zales has since grown from a single store into a major top selling international jewelry corporation. The company has surpassed 750 stores in the United States and Puerto Rico and has become one of the world’s most trusted retail jewelers. Zales has always focused on providing a wide range of choices for the average jewelry customer who seeks excellent value in fine jewelry at a low affordable price. This is one of the many reasons why Zales designs its jewelry to meet its customers' tastes and expectations for quality and style.
