Social media is a marketing tool which can allow for growth and attention without having to spend a dime. The content posted on websites such as: Facebook, Reddit, and Google Plus require only a minimal amount of time and reach a wide audience. The benefits of using this type of marketing is that it is fast, easy, and does not require the IT department to host any of the content. This type of marketing complements any other marketing schemes a company may have. Below is a list of some of the situations that would allow for the most exposure.

* Having the company’s Facebook/Google Plus account link to a marketing website that gives users a special offer.

* Running an AMA on Reddit which will allow you to answer questions about the company in a format where everyone can see your opinions, and get a lot of good exposure.

* Adding a quickbar for users to post company news material directly to social media sites.

* Running polls about new projects, and getting feedback which can then be used to gauge whether or not a product will become successful.

* Playing damage control if something happens within the company. Social media sites are a two way street and while the company may get a lot of angry remarks the company can also clarify its mission and can hopefully pull itself from the depths of public outrage.

It’s should now be apparent that using social media sites for marketing not only save money but can bring the company into the spotlight. With a lot of exposure comes the need for a stable and always-on website. It’s up to the company whether or not the hosting should be done in house or by a third party host.
