Week 3 Team Reflection Summary
Introduction
Managing revenue generation and customer experience are key competencies for a successful company. The planning process and organizational structure are components a company will leverage to maintain positioning in the market place and relevance in the business community. The reflections listed below focus on the organizational structure and the decision process companies develop to manage day-to-day and strategic operations.
This week’s instruction focused on organizational structure. There are a variety of ways to structure a corporation or business organization, and, it may be different within the levels of the company; however, at its core it will be customer and investor centric. Customer and Investor values will drive how a company organizes its competencies, hierarchal structure, and decision-making. In my personal life it is not prudent to have several layers of principle players to define the best course of action but in business this is common. Vertical and Horizontal structures are implemented throughout the company I work for with post bureaucracy organizations. This flat structure has shared responsibilities among division line managers developing processes in support of strategic goals defined by senior leadership. I have a long-term goal to develop a business model based on a product I plan to bring to the market. Structuring this business to be responsive to market fluctuation and consumer demand will be key to its success.
I realize that it is important to organize departments according to their function. These departments can combine individuals with similar skill-sets and tasks. Organizing a company’s structure can be quite difficult. However, a good structure can facilitate information, tasks, goals, and production.
