The film A League of Their Own is a very comical film, full of drama, lust, love, and baseball. The setting for this film is 1943 during World War II. During this time women had to become the “head” of their households since their husbands were across seas fighting. Due to the rise in women taking on male responsibilities, women started working in factories and even playing sports. This is where the film name A league of Their Own comes from, because a baseball league for women was started. The cast for this film was Tom Hanks as Jimmy Dugan, the coach of the Peaches, women baseball team. Greena Davis played the role of Dottie Hinson, the All American All Star catcher for the Peaches. Lori Pretty played the role of Kit, Dottie baby sister and the pitcher of the Peaches. With dozens of other cast members, this film brought light through this dark period of World War II.

A League of Their Own is a very dramatic. Parts of the movie reveal to us the true relationship of Dottie and Kit. Dottie was the older, prettier, more athletic, sociable sister, and Kit always felt that she was leaving in her shadow. The relationship between the siblings tore when Kit was pitching at the bottom of the ninth, and she had nothing left, her arm was sore, and Dottie told her to sit out and let another close the game. Kit was pissed because she taught that Dottie didn’t wont her to be the star player. After this game Kit was traded to another team, driven by anger to be better then her big sister. The last portion of the film doing the World Series, Kit is running from third base to home plate from an in the part homerun. Dottie was the catcher, waiting to tag Kit out as she came home, all she had to do was hold the ball. Once they collided they both fell and slowly the ball eased out of Dottie hands and her kid sister Kit won the game for her team.
