Personal Worldview

“A worldview is a set of assumptions or beliefs about reality that affect how we think and how we live” (Cosgrove, 2006, p. 19). Undeniably, the important ideas and beliefs that people hold on to are what move their thoughts and more over their behaviors. Every human being has the free will to believe in what they want to and that is what creates so many different worldviews. I personally have a Christian worldview and I have been a Christian for almost 3 years. For the past three years I have been able to learn about God through the bible and experiences. As a Christian, I believe everything that the bible teaches and I do the best to think and live my life according to it.

The bible starts with the book of Genesis. The book of Genesis talks about how God began creating the earth and everything in it in six days. God intentionally made the universe and breathed life into everything in it. The universe is spiritual because it exists on God and he made it with a purpose. Even though the universe is spiritual, the nature of the universe today is lost and sinful. There is sin everywhere, which causes a lot of pain and suffering for a lot of people. “It is clear in Romans 1-3 that all people have a sin nature, no matter how many or few sins they have committed” (Cosgrove, 2006, p.145). All people make up the universe and its nature. The sin in the world today did not come from God, but it came from our free will.

While many people do not believe in a higher being, I believe that God is the uncreated creator (Wilkens & Sanford, 2009). He is the creator of all things that rules the universe while being three persons in one, which is called the trinity. He is God, the Son, and the Holy Spirit (Cosgrove, 2006). God is love, all knowing, and forgiving. All of his characteristics are that of a perfect human being. Just as God created the universe, He also created everyone in it.
