1. DESCRIPTION: In the Great Post-It Massacre case Bob Scanlan, was a motivated and dedicated employee of Adventures Plus located in Dallas. He was initially in charge of small business accounts. He possessed a degree in management science however was convinced that there was a bright future it the travel industry. While assigned to the branch, he worked for Beverly Sadowsky, the first vice president at the time. She was the first vice president assigned to the company when it initially started. After two years of working with Beverly, she was promoted to the Chief Operating Officer. During her tenure working with Bob, Gertrude Tocco was Beverly’s immediate subordinate. Gertrude had planned on retiring in about a year and did so, opening her position. Bob, after some persuasion and a hefty bonus package, finally accepted the position. During the time that Bob worked directly for Beverly in his promoted position, they had a great understanding of how this ran. Beverly possessed a hands-off attitude and delegated many of her duties to Bob. He gladly accepted the responsibility and prided himself on making everyone happy. After about a year when Beverly was promoted, George Fishman was hired as the new vice president. George previously worked in auditing. He was promoted on his merit, seniority and possessed an MBA. He was a very detail oriented individual and a self-professed perfectionist. It was now time for Bob and George to succeed together and for George to fill the shoes of the newly promoted Beverly.

2. DIAGNOSIS: During Bob’s tenure working for Beverly, the developed a great working relationship. Initially, she observed Bob for about a month. During this time she realized the dedication and potential that he possessed. This allowed her to have a very hands off approach type of leadership when it came to Bob.
