THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SUPPLY MANAGEMENT PRACTICES, STRATEGIC ORIENTATION AND THEIR IMPACT ON ORGANISATIONAL PERFORMANCE.

Critical Analysis:

This paper presents the theoretical framework for the relationship between the strategic orientation and supply chain practices. This Paper deeply analyses the literature and proposes the new model of supply management practices with some important extensions to the previous model. The relationship between supplies and manufacturer are very important and intensity of their relations determines the performance of any organization. If an organization has successfully interlocked his supplier it can guarantee consistent performance. All organizations try to maintain smooth relations with suppliers.

The concept of supply management has been extended in this paper with the extension of a new construct "supply management practices" and its interaction with strategic orientation and the performance of the firm has been studied. Basically the paper deal the two constructs. Firstly, supply management practices are outlined and secondly strategic orientation is outlined. Than there two constructs are related to the operational as well as financial performance of the organization.

Purchasing competencies are divided into two groups purchasing practices (externally facing practices) and purchasing integration. Purchasing practices are categorized into three categories Supply Case Leveraging, Buyer-Supplier Relationship Development and Supplier Performance Evaluation all their activities deal with the firms' external environment and purchasing practices while purchasing integration refers to the internal activities and practices of organization.
