Abstract

The principal objective of this paper is to discuss the importance of Couples Counseling (Therapy). This paper will provide information on couples counseling beginning with the history and the importance of couples counseling. It will be correlated with scriptures. It will provide adequate knowledge and insight inventions and hope-focused marriage counseling. As of today, couples counseling is rapidly growing. Due to this enormous increase, the author will further discuss educational programs and the needs of special training and experiences as it relates to couples counseling (therapy). Couples counseling can be difficult. Therefore, maintaining hope among counselors who do a considerable amount of marital and couples counseling is very important. In counseling there the concepts must be clear, simple and easily repeatable so the clients remember them long after they have ceased from their therapy. Only about half of all marriages in the United States remain intact. Over a million marriages end in divorce each year, and there are 4.2 divorces for every 1,000 individuals, (Feldman). Couples counseling will allows individual to work productively through a variety of issues such as communication, anger, infidelity or overcoming a family crisis to ensure marriages are not resulted in a divorce.

Couples counseling actually originated in the 1920’s in Germany as part of the eugenics faction. The definition of eugenics faction is the study of factors that influence the hereditary qualities of future generations. Counseling was established in the early 1930's as clinicians recognized the advantages and efficiency of treating married couples in dual sessions.
