Fast Food Restaurants

So many Fast Food Restaurants in the world today are successful due to the history and tradition of how their food is prepared and served. If these restaurants could prepare their foods in a healthier manner while still maintaining that same great taste it would be a start for those of us who eat out more than at home. Much of the menus from these places provide and serve food that is high in fat, calories and salt. Who seem to be only interested in making money, while not necessarily caring about how the food is prepared and what harm it could do to our bodies from continuous eating. Eating fast food on a regular basis, again, could result in heat disease, diabetes and obesity. (Martinez, Jan 5, 2011)

Although, I believe society should get into a habit of preparing their meals at home and be sure to make it as healthy as possible to avoid obesity and health problems, and as a treat it would be fine to go out and eat. I also believe portion control plays a big part in our health. Portion sizes began to increase in the 1980’s and are continuing to rise. With this happening, and it doesn’t seem to be changing, it begins to be harder and harder for us to realize what a normal portion of food looks like. We are getting too comfortable with what’s been given to us; instead we each need more self-control. The more food we see in front of us the more tempted we will be to want to eat it all. But at the same time some of us really don’t like to waste food, so that could be a reason we want to eat all of it at once. (Gavin, 2011)

It is vital that we as a society try and work together and act fast in helping our restaurants to become a more healthy spot to go to in an emergency. Yes we all love the fattening fast food and the convenience of it but it is not right for us. With will power we can overcome the urge to go to these places every chance we get.
