1. List at least three (3) personal and three (3) business objectives that John Clendenin had working at Xerox. Provide examples for each objective.

Personal Objectives:

In general perspective, Clendenin had three personal objectives at the time he graduated from Harvard Business School

1. A corporate officer in a Fortune 50 corporation

2. On the boards of several other corporations

3. Appointed to a cabinet-level position in government

Later on, once he started his career in Xerox, Clendenin’s initial plan was to spend 5 years to become a senior staff. He had way ahead of this plan by being on the senior staff and reporting to a vice president after 12 years.

Business Objectives:

1. Productivity Consultant in USMG: When Clendenin was at his early stage in Xerox, his business objectives were to engage in production-line management, simplify and upgrade distribution process, and save cost for the company.

2. Administrative Manager of parts and supply area of USMG: After received a promotion to administrative manager for the area, his business objectives focused on managing his relationship with more experienced employees as well as founding MSDC out of place, considered redefinition of MSDC’s tasks to coordinate the development and implementation of any changes worldwide.

3. MSDC Manager: When Clendenin became the manager of the MSDC, his business objective was to develop a proposal with additional organizational components including a multinational distribution steering committee, a multinational working group and a multinational development center (MDC).

4. Director of MDC: After Clendenin was appointed to be the director of MDC, his business objectives was to build MDC by increasing headcount and budget, developing multinational systems for optimizing inventory levels within Rank Xerox and cutting the group’s budget...
