Why Teach

I chose the teacher profession because I love teaching and it has been a passion of mine since childhood. I agree with Michelle Smith, “She chose to teach because she wants to help children navigate their world”. As a teacher I want to help children become responsible and respectable, most of all eager to learn. Throughout the years I learned that teaching is not for the love of children. I learned that it is a lot more then working inside the classroom, as a teacher we are an advocate for all students inside of the school building and in the community.

Willis Ernest and I received the same inspiration from our teachers that we are meant to teach because of our compassion and dedication to learn and help others people learn as well. My high school teacher Ms. Williams inspired me to teach. I was always willing to learn in her classroom and I did not have a problem sharing the information with other students.

I always wanted to teach fifth grade because I believe they are our future leaders, lawyers, doctors and entrepreneurs. Fifth graders are active in stories, art, music and friends they are learning themselves and I feel that it is easier to teach them. You do not have to force learning on them, they will learn at their own pace and different methods can be used to teach them.

Wanda Brown possesses great qualities, listening to her speak gave me the impression that she has high expectation and compassion towards her students. The qualities that make me suited for teaching is that I am a people person, compassion, confident, calm and fair. To be a successful teacher you have to possess these qualities and as the days and years go by there are more qualities that a teacher will gain from their students, co-workers and parents.
