THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND

Introduction

Pasig River is the most famous river in the Philippines. It connects Laguna de Bay to the Manila Bay. Its major affluent are the Marikina River and San Juan River. Many decades ago, Pasig River was considered a precious commodity by the people in Metro Manila as it served as a transport route during the Spanish times. But throughout the years, because of human negligence and industrial development, the Pasig River became polluted so much that it is now considered dead, unable to sustain marine life stated by ecologists. Fortunately, there are still people who care and know the value of the Pasig River. For the past few years, the government authorities and other private sector organizations have joined to form an alliance to rehabilitate the Pasig River. Specifically, the Pasig River Rehabilitation Commission is the one in charge with the rehabilitation of the Pasig River. With this movement together with the use of many of the current available technology there is a high possibility that the Pasig River can be rehabilitated. Everyone is welcome and qualified to pitch-in their contributions whether on a large scale or in a small form factor. Database is an organized collection of data. Database Management System (DBMS) on the other hand is a special program designed to store multiple numbers of databases and can interact with a user. Usually, only database associates should have access to these kinds of systems. Also, it may be hard for a normal user with no knowledge of SQL statements to put in use a DBMS. Another thing to be considered is that a DBMS also has its limitations. A good example would be the inability to intelligently process data for a specific type of purpose. But, if a good Database Management System is to be paired with another system that is designed specifically to process a certain action and to be intended for a normal user, then, it would be of a very helpful use and could provide a...
