Doritos “Time Machine”

During the 2014 Super Bowl there have been several entertaining and strange commercials. One of the commercials that I saw when the Super Bowl had aired was a funny commercial about Doritos. Doritos has always been out with humorous ads throughout the years. This was an exciting and colorful commercial that highlighted the Doritos “Nacho Cheese” flavored tortilla chips.

This commercial starts with a young boy named Jimmy, standing outside in a yard with his dog. Jimmy is standing with a cardboard box labeled “Time Machine” that runs off on Doritos chips. A man named Mr. Smith, proceeds to the Jimmy by eating a bag of the chips. Jimmy asked him if he would like to try out the time machine that runs on Doritos.

Mr. Smith was like sure. Eventually, the man walk inside the cardboard box and Jimmy tricks Mr. Smith by saying “You gotta put the whole bag in” in order for the machine to actually work. So, the man does as he is told. Jimmy is kicking the cardboard box so it can move and is using a speaker to make noises as a way to make it more realistic. This makes Mr. Smith believe that the time machine is working. While Jimmy and his dog are eating the bag of Doritos, an old man comes out of the house and yells at Jimmy to get out of his yard. Jimmy and his dog then run away. Finally, Mr. Smith comes out of the cardboard box and sees the old man. Thinking the old man is Jimmy, he says “Jimmy, you are so old.” He hugs the old man and claims “It’s the future.”

I like this commercial because it was a great laugh for everybody and it was able to make people smile. It also had a great grab that definitely grabbed the viewers’ attention with a cute young child playing with his dog. When Jimmy was kicking the cardboard box and making the noises out of the speaker to make the time machine appear realistic, that was a part that had me bursting into laughter.
