What’s Your Dog Breed?

It’s sad when a person adopts a dog and has to get rid of it because it has a certain behavior or action that it keeps repeating and can’t seem to train the dog not to do that.

Dog owners today choose their perfect dog from the beginning but many are not as fortunate, other choose dogs based on appearance and reputation but realize it was not the best choice. Abuse and or abandonments occurs due to owner’s lack of knowledge about the breed. Before anyone gets a dog they should assess their life style and the breed of dog that they are interested in and see if the dog’s life style will match nicely with their own. Otherwise there are going to be stuck with a so called “bad dog.” Choosing a dog is not simple as its appearance or what reputation the breed has; a thorough knowledge of breed specifics, along with personal life style requirements should be taken into consideration as well.

Self-assessing their life style is the first thing they should consider when thinking of adopting a dog or a puppy. To do this they have to ask themselves multiple questions and answer them from the stand point of the next ten years not just now and the next few months. A dog usually will live eight to fifteen years so the earliest they should be planning for is eight years. It is impossible to predict the future but to have a general idea is better than just winging it. Here are a few questions that will be able to assess their life: Where are you going to live in the next ten years; a house, apartment, mom and dad’s house? ; How much money do you plan to make, Are you any good with finances? ; What kind of career are you going to have? Are you going to be working long hours away from home? ; What are your pet peeves? All of these questions and more are very important to answer honestly.
