1. The US had always been an Isolationist country, even before WW1. This is because of the problems we were having at home. We ended up sending help to Britain and the Allied forces because they had more democratic governments, while the Axis forces were more authoritarian. The US was inclined to help democratic countries because they had similar ideals and were more likely to not turn on the US.

2. In my opinion, the US ceased to be neutral when the "Lend-Lease" act was passed. The lend-lease act provided support for the allies and clearly showed the world that the US was siding with them. While most Americans did not want to help the allies it was Roosevelt who pushed the country to eventually join the war. Roosevelt had previously been friends with Winston Churchill and this gave him a strong duty to help Britain, leading to the aid by the US and eventual joining of the war by the US.

3. The First Neutrality Act- The First Neutrality Act kept citizens from selling weapons or lending money to any other nation. This, at the time, was beneficial for the US because it wasn't in a position to commit to war with most Americans being against aid to the allies or the axis powers. It ensured the path of neutrality for America.

Cash And Carry- The Cash and Carry policy was a step in the right direction for the US by offering aid to the allies, although it was difficult to get that aid.

US Aid to China- The aid that roosevelt provided to china was much needed but caused many problems on the homefront. I believe he did the correct thing in helping China regardless of how angry isolationists were back in the US. This aid to China was followed up by the “Lend-Lease” act.

Lend-Lease Act- The one big step by Roosevelt that gave aid to the Russians, British, China, and other allies. Although this act was beneficial for the allies it put the US in a state of jeopardy. The US did not want to go to war and this act was pushing the country towards it by taking...
