Pilgrims
A pilgrim is a person who makes a long journey for religious reasons. The Pilgrims could practice their religious beliefs in the Netherlands, but they wanted to live apart from other beliefs.

Plymouth
By the laws of England everyone in England was supposed to belong to a Church. Some people were not happy with that church. They had different beliefs. These people decided to separate from the church of England and set up their own churches. They became known as Separatist.

The Mayflower was the ship that in 1620 transported 102 English Pilgrims, including a group of Separatists to New England. The ships operator was Christopher Jones.

William Bradford
William Bradford was born in 1596 in Austerfield Yorkshire, England. His parents names were William and Alice Bradford. They were all wealthy and popular. When William was 7 years old he became an orphan because his parents died. He became the governor of the Plymouth Colony in Massachusetts....
