Why is Sex Fun? : The Evolution of Human Sexuality is a book that talks about the evolution or growth of sexuality in humans. The book talks about how we evolved to be as we are now. It compares how our sexual habits are to animals. Chapter 1 of the book talks about how other mammal species act when it comes to sexuality. How the go about the reproductive cycle, and what occurs when they are having sex and signals they are ovulating, so signal male counterparts. In chapter 2 it is called The Battle of the Sexes. It goes into detail about how a male and then female mammals take care of their young and prepare to give birth. Also talks about how who takes care of the egg and who raises it once it is burn. Second half of the chapter talks about natural selection in certain species. Chapter 3 talks about why male mammals do not lactate. It states how it might make sense for them to, since some males do take care of the young more than females do, also that for men is our species that it would be more evolutionary and have more potential. Second half of the chapter is talks about DNA, and how X and Y-chromosomes influence why females lactate and males don’t. In chapter 4 “Wrong time for love: the evolution of recreational sex”. It starts of talking about how female baboons will show their hindquarters when they are ovulating. “ This chapter seeks to understand the evolution of concealed ovulation, nearly constant female sexual receptivity, and recreational sex” (Diamond pg 65). Chapter 5 talks about what men are good for. It goes into detail about what male in species do. How in most species they tend to hunt and protects. In Chapter 6 talks about female menopause and how it’s the most bizarre feature of human sexuality.
