Haiku

One man, one woman

Two shining rings on fingers

To live together

16 line ABCB

The final day has come

The last day in this locker room

It seemed so far off

When I felt that first boom

My pads made me feel numb

Like I was walking in a tomb

It was only seconds till kickoff

This meant time for their doom

Every six points I could feel the drum

After halftime the game did resume

Only enough time for one handoff

He ran into the end zone with a zoom

With smiles we song that victory anthem

Then I felt a deep gloom

In years to come, what we have done will die-off

So is it really my doom?

Since the beginning of time

People have been fighting

For freedom or control

Some win, some lose

Some happy, some sad,

A lot are dead

But there is one thing

That we can’t fight

It tells us

When to wake or sleep

When to work or play

No one is free from it

Because when the time comes

It also tells us

When to leave this world

Who is this monster

That controls our lives

Time

Time is the monster

That controls us

That kills us all

Since the beginning

But how did time come to be

Does anyone or anything control it

He does

Everyone likes summer time

It is sunny and hot

You can swim, walk, and climb

But something comes that we all forgot

Next fall is here with some bad news

School is here for most of us

So we all begin to sing the blues

And wake up early to ride the bus

Winter comes with cold white snow

The ground disappears from sight

So we cuddle, sleep, and know

That this cold will only last overnight

Lastly is spring comes at last

With more joy and love than before

Another year has passed

Another year you will soar

Another year is gone

So live everyday till the next dawn
